The Perfect Map
by Rod P in"the perfect map" is a paradox.. where would we be without maps?
they provide us with much information to give us directions, pinpoint locations, quantify distances and areas, and identify landmarks (roads, tracks, intersections, towns, cities, signs, etc.
it is a scale drawing of the real world.

Can you solve this paradox?
by Rod P inyou have a bow and arrow.
you shoot the arrow with the bow from point a to point b.. but the arrow will never reach point b, it's destination.
before the arrow can reach point b, it must first travel half way (let's call that point c).. but before the arrow can reach point c, it must first travel half way (let's call that point d).. but before the arrow can reach point d, it must first travel half way (let's call that point e).. do you see the problem?

Everyone Welcome!
by Rod P inremember those little leaflets we used to hand out to people, inviting them to the assemby to hear those great public talks.
this little leaflet would highlight the theme, along with the date, time and place of the assembly.
on the same page was the nice heading "everyone welcome!".

What would the world be like if there was no Bible and no Koran?
by Rod P insuppose all of the books of the old testament had never been written.
there would be no account of adam and eve, no tower of babel, no account of noah's flood, no stories about abraham, isaac and jacob, no 12 tribes of israel, no prophets, no psalms, no proverbs, no solomon, no david, no job, no priesthood, and a host of other things.. then, suppose there were no accounts of the life of jesus and no epistles by the apostle paul as contained within the pages of the new testament.
there would be no stories about jesus, no miracles, no crucifixion, no resurrection, no salvation, no day of pentecost, no prophecies, no book of revelation, etc.

Do any small creatures frighten & freak you out?
by Rod P inhere's the dirty dozen: .
1) ants- imagine being buried in a sandpile up to your neck with sand.
along come a bunch of ants from an ant colony, and they crawl all over your head, in and out of your nose, your mouth, your ears, your eyes, and all thru your hair.

When you see a JW or two on the street, do you ignore them or speak tothem?
by Rod P inmost of the time i just walk on by.
i just can't be bothered, and they are not going to believe what i say anyway.
besides, should i tell them i am disfellowshipped, which may scare them away?

Does the Bible interpret itself, or a fiddle you can play any tune with?
by Rod P intesting this thread.
well, after three times, it finally worked.
why are there so many religions all professing belief in the bible, yet all of them interpret the bible differently?

Did the Devil and his Demons do it?
by Rod P intrue story: i used to drive for long trips on the highway a lot.
three-hundred-and-fifty mile trips were not unusual, and night time driving was quite common.
one night i fell asleep at the wheel, travelling 55 miles per hour along winding mountainous roads.

Did we become JW because we wanted someone else to do our thinking for us?
by Rod P inask yourself the question "do i have the kind of personality that is attracted to a strong person or entity that speaks with authority, and is very assertive?".
most of us just want to follow the leader.
it makes us feel protected and secure.
